Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding unit has designed a distinctive keycase to mark the 100th anniversary of Bentley. Made from Dark Stained Burr Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a fluttering 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure that features never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre imagery.

Aesthetics

Bentley is a brand who takes its aesthetics seriously. This is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting as well as the use of leather made from products of cattle and sustainable-managed forests, and the unique patterns of its levers. As you approach a vehicle like the Continental GT W12, its stunning design is accentuated by carefully curated lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top car. Its rear tonneau, for instance, featured the largest piece of book-matched, dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to a production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

A century since its founding, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership following years of wrangling with BMW was able to celebrate its centennial in 2019. The marque planned a number special events and launches to mark the occasion prior to when the pandemic was declared a priority.

Design

Bentley is known for its extravagant and lavish cars and keys, but even keys are made to stand out. The Bentayga Key is made of sterling silver with an enormous B' logo to let everyone know that you drive a Bentley. It's also engraved with the years 1919 and 2019 to mark the company's centenary.

Bentley Mulliner redesigned and developed the Mulsanne to be the ultimate Grand Touring vehicle. The rear seats are designed to offer passengers unparalleled comfort and privacy. They were inspired by the luxury private aircraft. A custom heating, air conditioning and ventilation system has been designed to ensure that every passenger has the ideal temperature control.

The Mulsanne is equipped with twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine with 560bhp as well as 479lb-ft torque. This prodigious power is complemented by a new suspension design that gives Bentley's signature hushed ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a custom-designed specification called the Centenary Specification for cars manufactured in 2019. The cabin features cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings are embroidered with Centenary Gold on the headrests seats, the interior and other areas of the car. This makes it more fun to celebrate. Function

The Bentley Mulsanne key features an opening button for the trunk, and another button that can start the car. It also has a button to activate the parking break. There is a knob to fold and unfold the mirrors when parking in tight spaces. This feature helps you get into and out of your vehicle.

Each key takes about two days to make. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, stitched, sealed, and then polished to give a superior result. It is sturdy and compact, and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar with the Volkswagen Phaeton's massive car key, yet it feels more heavy and luxurious.

It also has Secure-A-Key which prevents theft of keys that are keyless. This device is inserted inside the remote control key fob and is turned off after a few minutes of inactivity, preventing thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects the firm's values of high-quality craftsmanship, engineering expertise, and modern technology. Over 4,000 people work at the Crewe headquarters, which is responsible for the design, development, and production of Bentley automobiles. These workers apply techniques passed over generations and then apply them to the latest in automotive technology. This is British manufacturing at its best.

Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division allows customers to design their car. Customers sit at a set of images called "mood stations" and select a series of photos - from scenic views to sporting events that will inspire them. After each selection is made, a pattern is created and reveals the models and colors of the custom Bentley.

The guests receive the keys in a case designed by hand and containing the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. Keys can also be equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that illuminate the door's opening path with the owner's name or emblem when they make their way towards the vehicle.

Bentley claims it takes about 500 man-hours to design and assemble the average Mulsanne. The inability to adopt new bentley key technology is the key to this time-consuming task. The Crewe factory workers don't utilize a machine for arranging perfectly-matched leather seats. Instead, they do it by hand. And rather than letting the car's built in sensors guide it to perpendicular and parallel parking spots, drivers have to perform the task by hand.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization capabilities with an exclusive Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays tribute to William Osler, the founder of bentley key fob price.
